Things You’ll Do 

• Feeding Materials
  • Load raw materials (sand, gravel, recycled asphalt, etc.) into plant hoppers or cold feeds
  • Keep the plant continuously supplied so production stays consistent
  • Monitor material levels and anticipate when more is needed
•  Stockpile Management
  • Build, maintain, and organize material stockpiles
  • Separate materials by type and size
  • Prevent contamination (mixing of different aggregates)
• Equipment Operation
  • Operate the loader safely and efficiently in tight plant areas
  • Manage bucket loads properly to avoid spills and equipment strain
  • Work around trucks, conveyors, and other workers
• Communication & Coordination
  • Work closely with the plant operator and foreman
  • Help ensure asphalt mix meets quality specs
• Maintenance & Inspections
  • Perform daily pre-trip inspections (fluids, tires, hydraulics, etc.)
  • Keep the loader clean and in good working order
  • Report or fix minor mechanical issues
• Plant Support Work
  • Help with plant cleanup and shoveling
  • Assist in basic maintenance tasks around the plant
  • Keep work areas safe and organized

Key Skills

• Equipment operation (front-end loader proficiency)
• Awareness of material types and handling
• Good communication with plant crew
• Safety-focused mindset
• Basic mechanical knowledge

Requirements 

• Must be 18 years or older.
• CDL and ability to run a distributor truck plus but not required.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Understanding of paving procedures is a plus.
• Experience rolling different types of asphalt mix including UDOT or state mixes.
• Ability to work with other operators and testers on rolling patterns to achieve densities.
